Callander Kirk Youth Project Charitable Trust (CKYPCT)

The CKYPCT is approaching its 20th birthday. It was set up to employ a Christian youth worker, to encourage the young people in the church, and advance Christianity and education amongst the youngsters in and around Callander. With the departure of Tina Thornton last year, Duncan Cullens has become our new youth worker, and is doing an excellent job!

Some church folk are currently helping in his support, but the CKYPCT is seeking further donations, either by a monthly direct debit, or on a one-off basis. If you feel you would like to help, the CKYPCT bank account (Bank of Scotland) number is 00248501, and the sort code 80-05-91, or speak to Bill Sutherland, or Mark Brownrigg. If your donation could be gift aided, that would further assist our funding.

St Andrew’s Episcopal Church trip to Helensburgh takes place on Thursday 17th July and we are invited to join them for this day out. There will be a visit to the town before lunch in a café and an early visit to The Hill House (National Trust: cost £7.50 for seniors who are not members.) Depart from Callander at 9.30am, pick up in Aberfoyle 10.00am, arriving at Helensburgh for 11.00am. Booking via Hilary Gunkel.

From the Session Clerk..............

Following on from the announcements I made in church on Sunday 22nd June at the All-Age Service, I would like to say again that..........

The Kirk Session has started on the journey of seeking God's vision for Callander Kirk........and now we invite the whole congregation to join us on that journey.........and we mean the whole congregation........

each and every one of us has a part to play in seeking God's vision for

Callander Kirk.

Following the Kirk Session's meeting with Very Rev. John Christie from

'A Place for Hope' (www.placeforhope.org.uk)

we hope to collate responses from the Kirk Session on the question,

'What next for Callander Kirk?'

This will form the basis of a whole congregation meeting with Very Rev. John Christie on Sunday 27th July following the All-Age Service. It is hoped that a light lunch will be provided.

As a congregation we will also be engaging with 'Future Focus' (www.resourcingmission.org.uk)

.......a 'toolbox' of ideas intended to help congregations understand their situation better, to read the signs of the times, and to answer the call of God to be all that God wants us to be in these changing times.

This will be facilitated by Iain Campbell, Mission Development Worker.

It sounds fun and exciting and a project that we are sure to enjoy!

The dates for this project are as follows:

Tuesday 26th August – 7.00pm – 9.30pm in the Kirk Hall

Tuesday 9th September – 7.00pm – 9.30pm in the Kirk Hall

Sunday 21st September –12.30pm–4.00pm (including lunch) in the Kirk Hall

I hope to give a bit more insight to this project in the coming weeks.

Meantime please speak to myself or other members of the Kirk Session

for more information on the journey we are now travelling.

Linda Cantlay, Session Clerk
