My name is Rhianna McIntyre-McClure and I have been given an incredible opportunity to go out to the remote Amazonia region of Peru in September this year, to volunteer with the Amazon Hope project, part of the Vine Trust, where I will be part of a medical and dental team, working in an ancillary role, providing basic health care to some of the poorest and most marginalised people in the world.

It’s a well established and supported Christian project, which sends out teams of doctors, dentists, pharmacists and nurses all year round and it really does make a difference. I am very excited about this even if I am feeling a bit squeamish about all the injections I will need (including rabies because of the remote location)! There is more information about the project at:

I am involved in a lot of fundraising ventures between now and September to enable me to take up this opportunity, for example bag packing at the Coop this Saturday 8th June and again on the Highland Games weekend. Linda Snow has kindly offered to run a charity Zumba® fitness event on 22nd June, from 2-4.30 pm in the Kirk Hall, which should be a lot of fun. It's for people of any age and you can take part in as much or as little as you choose - there will also be refreshments. At the same time there will be a Zumbatomic®class for 4-12 year olds running in the library so you can bring the family! Tickets are available at £7.50 for adults and £3.00 for children by calling 01877 339122 or emailing  Please do come and if anyone is willing to contribute some home baking, that would be very much appreciated!

I have a fundraising page, with information, set up directly with the Vine Trust at the following link:h

Thank you very much indeed for reading this and for any support whatsoever you may be able to give. I will be reporting back on the project later in the year, once I am back home.
